Imran Khan, the imprisoned former prime minister of Pakistan, has invoked.
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is presently incarcerated, complained to the nation’s highest court about maltreatment he had received while in jail, citing interim bail granted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Khan informed the Supreme Court that Arvind Kejriwal had been granted temporary bail by the Indian high court to campaign ahead of the general elections, according to PTI.
The former prime minister said that he was subject to oppression in Pakistan, where “martial law” had not been proclaimed.
In an appearance on Thursday before a five-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa in a case pertaining to changes to the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lodged a complaint with the supreme court.
On the bench were Justices Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Athar Minallah, Jamal Khan Mandokhel, and Aminuddin Khan.
According to PTI, Justice Minallah said that it was regrettable that Khan was incarcerated because he led a sizable party with millions of members.
In addition, Imran Khan bemoaned that he was found guilty in less than five days, preventing him from participating in the February 8 national elections.
Khan also expressed shock at the Supreme Court’s ruling dismissing the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s request for the case to be streamed live.
Chief Justice Isa stated that a judge is under no need to provide an explanation for their decision. “A petition for review may be filed,” the chief judge stated.
Khan reportedly requested that the court make a comparison between the amenities provided to him in prison and those granted to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
On a lighter note, though, Justice Mandokhel questioned, “Do you want us to send him to jail?” as the elder Sharif was not incarcerated at the time.
The chief justice said that the court will set up the judicial officer’s unexpected visit.
