Where Were Your Eyes On…”: Israel’s Retort to “All Eyes On Rafah” Campaign

At least 45 civilians, including children, lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike aimed at a Hamas target within a refugee camp in Rafah.

New Delhi : Celebrities, athletes, and millions of social media users worldwide have been sharing the “All Eyes On Rafah” message to highlight Israel’s airstrikes in Rafah, a southern city in conflict-ridden Gaza. This airstrike resulted in the deaths of at least 45 civilians, including children, at a refugee camp. The event has sparked global outrage, increasing Israel’s isolation due to its actions in Gaza.

In response, Israel posted an image questioning why people did not share posts about the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. That attack claimed the lives of approximately 1,160 Israelis, mostly civilians, and led to the capture of about 250 hostages. During a week-long truce in November, several hostages were released, but Israel believes 99 hostages are still alive, while 31 have died.

Israel’s retaliatory campaign against Hamas has resulted in at least 31,112 deaths, as reported by the health ministry in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas.

Amid widespread criticism, Israel denied targeting the Rafah camp directly, attributing the damage to a secondary explosion caused by a rocket striking a Hamas weapons depot.

On X (formerly Twitter), the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu shared an image with the caption, “Where were your eyes on October 7?” The image shows a Hamas militant standing in front of an infant.

This response came shortly after the “All Eyes On Rafah” image went viral, shared by nearly 45 million users on Instagram. The image shows rows of densely packed tents in a desert landscape, symbolizing the numerous Palestinians who sought refuge during Israel’s military operations against Hamas.

Several Indian celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Varun Dhawan, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, shared the “All Eyes On Rafah” image.
