Delhi is experiencing a terrible heatwave, and residents are struggling with a water problem. Water is being delivered to the impacted communities by tankers. The problem is made worse by the regular disruptions to the water sources in the nation’s capital, which include the Ganga water from Uttar Pradesh, the Yamuna river, the supply from Haryana, tubewells, and Ranney wells.
Water Minister Atishi unveiled a water restriction plan on Tuesday that will result in some South Delhi neighbourhoods receiving water only once a day instead of twice. Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar, Panchsheel Park, Hauz Khas, Chittaranjan Park, and other areas are impacted by this decision. The modification will be in place until the water supply.
“I understand that those in areas where water is provided twice daily may be upset if it is only available once a day, but I’m pleading with Delhiites not to focus just on ourselves. “We ought to consider everyone,” Minister Atishi declared.
In the midst of a protracted heatwave in northwest India, North and South West Delhi, particularly Mehrauli and Chattarpur, are also experiencing serious water problems this summer.
The city’s total water output was 978 million gallons per day (MGD), with Wazirabad producing 110 MGD against a capacity of 131 MGD, according to the Delhi Jal Board’s (DJB) summer bulletin on Tuesday. While Monday’s production of 969.32 MGD showed some improvement, Wazirabad’s problems still affect the supply as a whole.
Calling for “collective responsibility,” Minister Atishi urged locals to refrain from using excessive amounts of water, such washing cars with soap.
Virendra Sachdeva, the president of the Delhi BJP, accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Water Minister Atishi of being incompetent for causing the acute water scarcity. Sachdeva expressed disapproval for the government’s inability to handle the water situation.

The minister stated that the Delhi government is in constant communication with Haryana to find a solution to the problem, and that if one is not reached quickly, they may file a case with the Supreme Court. The water allotted to Delhi has not been released by Haryana. On May 1, the water level at Wazirabad was 674.5 feet. This is the standard level that ought to be upheld. The minimum level was kept at 674.5 feet in April, May, and June of the previous year, according to Atishi.
Atishi provided information, pointing out that by May 8, Wazirabad’s water…
