Today, the creators of Chandu Champion, the highly awaited sports drama starring actor Kartik Aaryan, released the trailer. The film, which was written and directed by Kabir Khan, is based on the life of Indian freestyle swimmer and first-ever Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar.
After being injured during the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War, Kartik’s character, Murlikant Petkar, is hit and goes into a two-year coma. The trailer opens in 1967 at an Indian Army hospital in Udhampur. Then it becomes clear to us that Petkar enlisted in the Army in order to fulfill his ambition of becoming an Olympic boxing medallist for India, to become a “Champion,” and to silence his critics. After putting in a lot of work and overcoming many obstacles, Petkar wins the first gold medal at the Paralympic Games for India.
This incredible story of a guy who persevered in the face of adversity is presented. The trailer’s description stated, “His unwavering zeal and never-give-up attitude led to creating history.” At the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Scotland, the real-life Murlikant Petkar won the gold medal. He later won gold at the 1972 Paralympics in Germany.
Pritam composed the soundtrack for Chandu Champion. The movie, which Sajid Nadiadwala is producing under his Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE) label, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 14.
