A doctor in Bengaluru teaches a woman who called non-smokers in a viral post “losers.”
Dr. Deepak Krishnamurthy, Head of Interventional Cardiology at Kauvery Hospital in Bengaluru, educated a social media user who had labelled non-smokers as “losers” in a post that went viral. A photo of the user smoking and holding a cup of tea was posted on X.
The caption from user @sushihat3r said, “Hey smokers and losers (non-smokers), what are you doing?”
Her post received over a million views very rapidly, indicating its popularity. On social media, meanwhile, it also provoked criticism, with many people criticising her viewpoint in the comments.
“When you have COPD and are wired to pipes and fluids, I challenge you to write this exact same tweet,” a user wrote. nothing private. simply don’t make tobacco seem cool here.”
“Tag your parents and let them decide if you are a loser or not,” another user said. Give up before life gives up on you.”
The third person commented, “Thank you, losers are the ones who smoke.”
In response to the widely shared post, Dr. Krishnamurthy retweeted it along with a sobering revelation: the woman who smoked at the age of 23 was his youngest patient to need triple bypass surgery. He used the hashtag #LiveHealthy to highlight the value of leading a healthy lifestyle and reworded the original post’s text, saying, “Be a loser (as per this lady) and live a healthy life.”
Users responded well to the doctor’s response, which touched a nerve.”It took me several years of battle to kick my smoking habit. I am experiencing improvements in my health as a result of that choice. You have nothing to be proud of, people who smoke.”
