Law enforcement sources claim that the father of Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley was arrested on Wednesday while driving in the Bronx and carrying a gun.
According to sources and Fox News reporter Greg Thompson, when police pulled down Alibay Barkley during a traffic stop at the intersection of East 140th Street and Third Avenue in Mott Haven, they discovered the firearm.
Thompson was informed by sources that the gun was fully loaded.
An inquiry for response from the NYPD was not answered right away, and Saquon Barkley’s agent was unaware of the situation.
The elder Barkley has a history of legal troubles. In 2018, Saquon disclosed to LancasterOnline that he was detained for a year on Riker’s Island at the age of 19.
Tonya Johnson, Saquon’s mother, decided to relocate her young family from the Bronx to Pennsylvania in order to start over as a result of this conviction.
After being freed, Alibay Barkley moved with his family and stayed out of trouble until 2016, when he was Tased and arrested for refusing to get off a bus in Allentown, Pennsylvania, after the driver was suspected of breaking the law.
After that, he filed discrimination lawsuits against the bus company and the police department; the matter was settled in 2018 for $45,000.
“My dad has experienced a great deal. Don’t make the same mistakes dad did in life was a major lesson he instilled in me as a child, Saquon, a Penn State football player, told Lancaster Online.
As men, we have to honour him. Many parents find it difficult to tell their kids that the choices they made were terrible and that their actions were incorrect. It was beneficial to me.
