Sam Altman’s on OpenAI’s Chief Scientist || Ilya Sutskever

Sam Altman’s Thoughts on OpenAI’s Chief Scientist, Ilya Sutskever :

OpenAI is losing its AI chief this week, and Sam Altman’s team is ready to honor a longtime friend in his position.

Ilya Sutskever, head scientist at OpenAI, passed away this week. The update was published on social media, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was quick to acknowledge the efforts and creativity of a great friend. He expressed his gratitude in this week’s X article, where he also welcomed the incoming head scientist at OpenAI, who will succeed Sutskever.

“Ilya and OpenAI are parting ways. This makes me very sad; Ilya is easily one of our generation’s best thinkers, a guiding light in our area, and a good friend. His genius and vision are well-known; his warmth and compassion are less well-known.

Jakub is going to be our new Chief Scientist. Jakub is also easily one of our generation’s brightest minds, and I am delighted that he is taking the torch here. He has led many of our most critical projects, and I am quite confident he will lead us to make swift and safe progress toward our aim of ensuring that AGI benefits everyone.”

People are interested by the timing of his exit, which comes just a few days after OpenAI released the new ChatGPT 4o, which has advanced to provide real-time translations and other features. Altman and Sutskever have known each other for a long time, and his message to the departing OpenAI chief scientist explains their equation.

However, Sutskever has spoken about the honor of working with the OpenAI team and now intends to work on a project that is personally relevant to him. These two were purportedly engaged in Altman’s ouster from OpenAI, with Sutskever alleged to have arranged his termination, which was then reversed, as Altman leads the business into the next era of AI with Microsoft on its side.

According to reports, OpenAI may reach an agreement with Apple that will allow ChatGPT to be powered on iPhones and iOS platforms later this year.
